Observations in no particular order

Eversong Lounge
Whenever I play Blood Elves I quest pretty quickly through the starting area just like everyone else. I always see the benches and chairs they have here or there but I guess I never registered. If they have benches, tables and even an upholstered chair outside, are Blood Elves more appreciative of nature than we might give them credit for?

Not a helpful visual.

Stormwind Barbershop
I rolled a Human alt day before yesterday for a distraction and I ran her to the barbershop in Stormwind to try out some potential hairstyles. None of the new options interested me and on impulse I ran into the upstairs room to check things out. This grisly scene is what awaited me.

Fountain Madness
Magically, 3.1 has turned everyone into fishermen. (Fisherpersons?) Right after Wrath came out, everyone and their mother was fishing away, trying to get the rat, the coins and the respective achievements. And after a while the craze died down and you saw a person here or there fishing (if you saw them at all.) Now, however, everyone’s out with their fishing poles again. It’s almost comical.

Stained Glass 1
Stained Glass 2

The two screenshots above might seem rather normal to you. In fact, probably boring. There is an Orc in the first one, sure, and just trainers and players in the second ones. But what caught my attention was the stained glass. I know that in cathedrals and churches in Warcraft there are stained glass windows. I see the colors as I pass by. But I never stopped to look at them. They’re really rather pretty. Even Northshire Abbey, in the lowly starting area in Elwynn, gets pretty stained glass windows. That’s nice to think about, really.

I don’t know how many times I’ve been in Northshire Abbey myself and like you I was aware of the stained glass windows but I never really looked at them either. But you are right, they are quite pretty. Maybe I’ll run myself over there on my Blood Elf Death Knight and take a look :D

I bet you’d cause quite the stir – this guy had a train of three low levels following him around like ducklings :)

Interesting. I hadn’t thought about the attention I’d get. That might be fun. And I’m much better looking than that guy. Well, my toon is anyway :D

RE: Upstairs in the barber shop…Sweeny Todd? Oh my goodness that is awesome. Blizz loves to put in little references like this, don’t they?

Much like on the WI column ‘Around Azeroth,’ I’m continuously amazed at the amount of detail programmers and artists put into the game. Pictures, conversations, everything…truly amazing stuff. :DAnd thanks for the insight! Never having rolled Alliance keeps me away from all your fancy Stormwinds, and…Ironforges…wherever you kids go these days….

I was in that room at the barbershop over the weekend and completely missed that. I’ll have to go take another look.I have noticed the imported fruits sign before, but just shook my head and walked kept on going. It is a bit comical though.

You are welcome to visit anytime. I mean, you’ll probably get attacked on site. But the invitation still stands!

Even my wife, who hates the game . . . or more specifically hates that our 3 sons and I play the game . . . so much . . . anyway, even she will watch us play and admit that, graphically, Blizzard has done an amazing job. It’s a beautiful game right down to the details. Maybe even because of the details.

Here’s an interesting one. Have any of you seen “Bambi” and his pals wandering around near the Westfall camp in Grizzly Hills? (And of course they’re named slightly differently, but still, a fawn, skunk, rabbit, and one other, I think)

Seen them, along with Bambi’s mom. A Westfall hunter appears as a scripted event and shoots the mom, causing Bambi to get a quite powerful buff that allows him to 1-shot the hunter. Was tempted to see what would happen if I used [Consecrate] on the group, but decided not to risk it…

We blood elves are very appreciative of nature! We simply like to make it prettier if possible. But yeah, the stained glass windows are very cool! I always take a look at them. Some really pretty ones can be found in the dragonblight, where the Scarlet Onslaught is.

Hm – I don’t think that I’ve been there to see them. I’ll have to go take a look.

I have a book about about fossils called “Planet Ocean” (awesome! go buy it! no, like now!) and your fisherpersons comment made me think of it. The illustrator is an amazing, amazing man named Ray Troll who loves to draw fish-as-people and people-as-fish.There’s a lovely picture in the book of a fish with a bow tie on that says “Yes, we are all fish” underneath it. We are all fisherpersons!(Very random. Sorry, it’s late Friday afternoon. I should go home now …)
